Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 9, 2026

Karendaa ("we", "our", "us") is a calendar and task organizer app built to help you plan your day beautifully. We believe your personal schedule is deeply private, and we've designed Karendaa to respect that from the ground up.

The short version: Karendaa is offline-first — your calendar and task content stays on your device and works without an account. Some limited data still leaves your device for in-house analytics, error diagnostics, and non-personalized ads, and for optional account features (sign-in and cloud sync) if you choose to use them. We don't sell your data, we don't use tracking pixels, and we don't run third-party analytics SDKs like Firebase or Mixpanel.

1. Information We Collect

Account information (optional)

If you choose to create an account via email, we collect your email address and display name. To verify that the email address belongs to you, we send a 6-digit one-time verification code to that address; we use it only to confirm access and authenticate you. You can also use Karendaa in guest mode with no account at all — no personal information is required.

Google sign-in (optional)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL from Google OAuth. We use this only to set up your Karendaa profile. We do not access your Google Calendar, contacts, or any other Google data.

Your content

The events, tasks, and time blocks you create — including titles, descriptions, times, categories, and priorities — are stored locally on your device by default. If you enable cloud sync, this data is transmitted to our server so you can access it across devices.

Device identifier

We generate a random UUID for each app installation. This identifier is used solely for sync conflict resolution (knowing which device made a change). It is not linked to advertising, tracking, or your identity.

App usage analytics and diagnostics

We collect limited pseudonymous usage and diagnostic data — such as screen names, feature events, timestamps, a per-install identifier, and error information (including stack traces). This data is buffered locally and may be sent to our server in batches. We do not intentionally include the contents of your calendar, tasks, or time blocks in analytics or diagnostics. We use this to understand which features are useful and to fix bugs.

2. How We Use Your Information

3. Third-Party Services

Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to show non-personalized banner and app-open ads. These ads are not selected by Karendaa based on your behavior or interests. However, to deliver ads, prevent fraud, cap frequency, and measure performance, Google may process device information such as device identifiers, IP address, ad interactions, and diagnostics. For details, see Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from AdMob.

Google OAuth

If you choose to sign in with Google, the authentication flow is handled through Google's OAuth service. We only receive your name, email, and profile picture. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Push notifications

Reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device using Expo Notifications. No notification data is sent to Expo's servers or any other third party.

Service providers

We use a small number of service providers to operate Karendaa — including cloud hosting for our backend (Vercel and a managed PostgreSQL database) and an email delivery provider used to send verification and password-reset emails. These providers process data only as needed to provide their service to us and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

6. Your Rights and Choices

For users in the European Union / UK (GDPR)

If you are in the EU or UK, you have rights including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to processing, and port your data. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of a contract (providing the account and sync features you request), our legitimate interests (operating, securing, and improving the app, including pseudonymous analytics and diagnostics), and consent where required. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. To exercise your rights, contact us at the email below.

For users in California (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (the ads we show are non-personalized). California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to or deletion of it, and to correct inaccurate information, without discrimination for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact us at the email below.

7. Children's Privacy

Karendaa is intended for users 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other appropriate means. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
